Several of Border Angel’s outreach program positively impact San Diego’s immigrant population by offering free legal assistance on certain days and has a Day Laborer program. In the past, they were very involved in the 2014 American immigration crisis and helped the children that were affected by that event. They distributed a large amount of toys, books, clothing and food for the children and tried to provide help from the protestor that were trying to block their way.

Border Angels is just one of the groups that is supported by the Larkin and Lacey Frontera Fund. This organization was created by two lifelong journalists who had spent their entire life trying to promote free speech and increase awareness to the issues along the border in Arizona.

After being illegally arrested in 2007, Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin sued the Sheriff for unlawful detainment. A long court process finally worked in their favor when the grand jury decided that the sheriff had no substantial reason to arrest them and they were awarded a large settlement in the form of over 3 million dollars.

Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin decided to put this money to use and use it to help other migrant, civil, and human rights groups in the Arizona area. This was the creation of the Larkin and Lacey Frontera Fund, which has now grown in size and brought help and hope to families all over the country.

They have supported many groups and are still working every day to provide relief to those affected by these terrible violations of rights. They believe that with enough public education and increased awareness, the main thing these groups work toward, this growing problem might start to shrink.
