Wengie Makes DIY Hair Removal Wax; The Results Were Entertaining

Doing it yourself (DIY) is an action that is overtaking a multitude of industries. The Australian beauty blogger, Wengie, is no stranger to DIY–especially when it comes to making her own beauty products. Taking things into your own hands not only creates a fun learning experience, but drastically cuts the cost of buying beauty supplies, and the products serve the same purpose. Often times, making your own products is organic, which makes it generally better for your skin.

So, just what has Wengie made for beauty products, and were they effective?

Hair Removal Wax: Hard and Soft, and How They Compare to Name Brands

Hard Sugar Wax

  • 2 cups of sugar
  • 1/4 cup of lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup of water

The blogger combined all of these ingredients in a pot and brought them to a boil. Once the mixture started to boil, she reduced the heat and continued cooking it for around seven minutes or until the mixture turned a caramel brown color. When the cooking process was done, she transferred the mixture into a jar and allowed it to cool.

An Experiment Using Nair Strip-Free Wax

Upon applying this mixture to her legs, the beauty breathed a sigh of relief. There was no burning nor general discomfort. As a result, she adjusted her recipe for round two!

Soft Sugar Wax

  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 1/4 cup of lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup of water

Following the same cooking and cooling process, everybody’s favorite YouTube personality was anxious to try this on her skin. The consistency was better and the smell was just as enticing, but the results were profoundly greater. It is safe to say that this might be Wengie’s go-to DIY beauty product in the future!
